description

Spechtshorn is a district of the municipality Hohne in the integrated municipality of Lachendorf in the district of Celle , Lower Saxony .

geography

Spechtshorn is located on the southern edge of the Ice Age ridge Schmarloh, east of the Spetzenbach, which flows southwest into the Wiehe, a right tributary of the Schwarzwasser .

history

The Lords of Oesingen had goods and tithes in Lüsche, Klein Hehlen ,räderloh, Habighorst and the Vorwerk in Spechtshorn. This Vorwerk, called Sattelhof, was mentioned for the first time in 1213.

The Counts of Wölpe near Nienburg (Weser) owned one of the farms in Spechtshorn until 1301 and gave it as a fief. It was bought by Duke Otto II of Braunschweig-Lüneburg on January 26, 1302 .

The Spechtshorn village chronicle, compiled and written by Karl-Heinrich Dralle, was published in 1997.

Spechtshorn had seven Kötner posts in 1606 ; three owners were in the sample roles of 1605/06 for service with the rifle, but the other four were retired with halberds .

In the "Statistical Handbook for the Kingdom of Hanover" by Harseim and Schlüter from 1848 it says about Spechtshorn:

11. Hohne (sovereign).
The parish includes: Pollhöfen, Spechtshorn, Ummern and Feikenhof.
(...)
1 school in Hohne, including the dasige nobility. Well heard. 1 school in Pollhöfen. 1 school in Spechtshorn, including Feikenhof. 1 school in Ummern (sovereign).

On January 1, 1973, Spechtshorn was incorporated into the municipality of Hohne.

Until the early 1990s , the DEA produced crude oil in and around Spechtshorn (including in Schmarloh ) at various locations. The many green pumps dominated part of the village for years.

Religions

Most of the residents belong to the Evangelical Lutheran parish of Hohne.

coat of arms

Split in gold and green, in the [heraldic] right field a natural-colored woodpecker erected on a brown stumped branch ; in the [heraldic] left field an inverted silver horn with a golden mouthpiece.

The coat of arms is a talking coat of arms .

Spechtshorn means woodpecker forest. The shepherd's horn in the coat of arms indicates the hat and grazing rights of the commons.

Culture and sights

In Schmarloh, a few kilometers outside of Spechtshorn, there is a sound installation in the middle of the Feldmark, which tells a story of the region, "Jasper slütt den Smarloh tau". Loudspeakers built into larger field stones whisper the story into the landscape. The stones are part of the regional (cycle) circular route of the magical places .

The installation has often been the victim of vandalism .

Buildings

The recently built house on the Spetzen has been replacing the original village community center for several years, which has since been converted by some residents into a museum about oil production in the region around and in Spechtshorn itself.

A real feed pump ("horse's head"), which today is only operated for viewing, was set up in front of the oil museum.

Associations, public institutions

The local history association manages the house on the Spetzen and is committed to a respectable village image and sociable coexistence in the village community.

In Spechtshorn there is the volunteer fire brigade Spechtshorn, founded in 1954 , which provides fire protection and general help. There is also a shooting sport - and also a shooting club . The Schützengilde Spechtshorn von 1812 eV was reorganized in 2011 as a merger of the Schiessgruppe von 1978 eV and the free Schützengilde von 1812, in 2012 the 200th anniversary was celebrated.

Natural monuments

The Torfkuhle , a fen pond on the northern border of Spechtshorn, is now a popular place for ice skating and used to provide fuel for the region.

Spechtshorn is located on Schmarloh , a cultural landscape that is also an important bird migration and breeding area .

Sports

Shooting sports are operated by the Hohne Schützengilde von 1708 eV and the Spechtshorn shooting group from 1978 eV

There is also the TuS Hohne-Spechtshorn sports club.

The Gesangssportgruppe Spechtshorn (GSGS) was founded in 2007 as an association to promote the joy of singing in the Schützengilde.

Regular events

The Schützengilde Spechtshorn organizes its shooting festival every two years .

  7. The club, which was initially founded as a men's gymnastics club, had its roots in a pipe club. The Pfeiffenclub was absorbed into the gymnastics club in 1924 on the initiative of Heinrich Krößmann's son Otto. The association, later renamed TuS Hohne-Spechtshorn, is one of the largest associations in the community with over 800 members. Today it is mainly used by the fields of soccer, gymnastics, handball and judo (source: website of the municipality of Hohne).
