The Schwarzwasser is a 36 km long, northeastern and right tributary of the Aller in the Lower Saxony districts of Gifhorn and Celle . Its catchment area is 269.75  km² .

course

The black water rises in the Oerreler Heide belonging to the Südheide . Its source is in the Gifhorn district between the core town of Dedelstorf in the south-west and the Repke district of Dedelstorf in the east-north-east near the federal highway 244 .

The black water flows mainly in a south-westerly direction. Initially, it runs south and between the Dedelstorf districts of Lingwedel in the west and Langwedel in the east. Then it runs west past the Teichgut district of Wahrenholz and passes and feeds numerous ponds in the municipality of Groß Oesingen . Then the brook turns to the west after passing Wesendorf to the west and after passing the core town of Ummern to the southeast . The Schwarzwasser then flows north past the Hahnenhorn district of Müden and reaches the district of Celle. A little further to the west, it runs through  the Wienhausen district of Nordburg - after the junction on the right with the longest Schwarzwasser tributary, Wiehe , flowing from the direction of Hohne . Then the municipality of Lachendorf extends to the north bank of the brook .

The black water, which ultimately strives west-north-west, flows north past Offensen and then on towards Oppershausen , two other districts of Wienhausen. Then , before reaching Oppershausen and shortly after crossing the Osterbruch Canal, a side canal of the Aller , it flows into the Weser tributary of the Aller, which comes there from about the southeast .

Others

The black water was diverted in its course near Schwachhausen in the early 1970s. Most of it is fed from drainage ditches. It therefore plays a decisive role in the reclamation of today's field areas north of Nordburg and Schwachhausen.
