The Special Service Squadron ( squadron for special tasks ) was a division of the US Navy from 1907 to 1940. Its area of ​​operation was the Caribbean and the Panama Canal , the headquarters were in Balboa , Panama . The main task of the squadron was to enforce American interests in Central America by means of gunboat policy .
