The Special Vehicle Team (SVT) is a branch of Ford Motor Company that emerged from Ford's former Special Vehicle Operations division . It is responsible for the development of the most powerful vehicles from Ford and is therefore comparable to AMG from Mercedes-Benz or BMW M GmbH. Hermann Salenbach is currently the director.

General

SVT mainly produces tuned versions of Ford vehicles. The most famous model here is the Ford Mustang Shelby GT 500 . However, independent vehicles are also created, such as the GT Supercar, which was developed together with Saleen . SVT was founded in 1992 by several members of Ford's Marketing and Management Department. Before that there was SVO (Special Vehicle Operations). This is where the Mustang SVO, produced between 1984 and 1986, with a 2.3-liter turbo engine was created. In addition, SVO provided various tuning parts. After SVT was founded, “Ford Racing Performance Parts” (FRPP) took on this task.
