SpeedSnake FREE in Fort Fun Adventure Land ( Bestwig waterfall , North Rhine-Westphalia , Germany ) is a steel roller coaster of the Whirlwind model by the manufacturer Vekoma , which was opened in 1982 as a whirlwind . It is one of the oldest attractions in the park and is located in the back of the park next to the ladybird roller coaster.

An identical system in Germany is in Safariland Stukenbrock under the name Flying Tiger .

history

The railway was opened in 1982 under the name Wirbelwind ; In 2010 the system was renamed Speed Snake , at the same time it got a new train from Vekoma. Until 2010 the railway ran in white and green paintwork, in 2014 it was painted black, although the supports remained green. In the 2017 season, the Speed Snake got a new train from Sunkid Heege, which is equipped with the modern pelvic bracket.

This Whirlwind model was shown together with a Paratower at Interschau 82 ( Messe Düsseldorf ). Both trips were in operation in January 1982.

train

The train built by Arrow Dynamics was painted orange and white until 2010. The new train from Vekoma, which has been in use since then, is designed as a snake. It has seven cars, each of which can seat four passengers (two at the front and two at the rear).

The train was completely replaced in the 2017 season. Now the safety brackets no longer close from above, but only from below. With this pelvic bracket, the name was changed to SpeedSnake FREE, because you should have a freer feeling. The cars are still designed as a snake, in a light shade of green.
