Speed is a card game for two players, which requires quick reactions and a high level of concentration from both players. The game was launched by Reinhard Staupe in 1995 and has been sold over a million times to date.

The game contains 60 cards with the motifs dragon, cross, house, fir and flag. These are shown in five colors (blue, green, yellow, purple and red) and the number one to five on the cards. Each player is dealt 30 cards face down at the start of the game. Now each player takes a card from his stack and places it face down between himself and his fellow players. Both cards are turned over on command and serve as a discard pile in the further course of the game.

The discarding process is as follows: Each player takes three cards from his pile in hand and tries to get rid of them as quickly as possible. It can be placed if the card on one of the two piles has the same color, the same motif or the same number. After discarding a card, the player may immediately draw new cards from his pile and continue to discard them. However, he may have a maximum of three cards in hand.

The winner is the first to discard all 30 cards.

Note

Should both players not be able to put down any more cards (because neither motif, color nor quantity fit), all cards placed so far are shuffled and each player then draws a card face down and turns it over on command. These two cards are now placed on!
