Speedcubing World Championships 2009

The 5th Speedcubing World Championships were held from October 9th to 11th, 2009 in the Burg-Wächter Castello in Düsseldorf . World champions were chosen in 19 disciplines. There were also three other unofficial competitions.

The total prize money was 21,500 euros. The most valuable win was in the supreme discipline Rubik's Cube with 5000 euros.

New world records

In the course of the tournament, the following new world records were set:

  • Yumu Tabuchi (Japan) in the Rubik's Cube One-handed discipline ; Average time: 16.90 s.
  • Bálint Bodor (Hungary) in the Megaminx discipline ; best individual time: 57.94 s.
  • Piotr Michal Padlewski (Poland) in the Square-1 discipline ; best individual time: 10.96 s.
  • Michal Halczuk (Poland) in the 7 × 7 × 7-Cube discipline ; best individual time: 3: 43.15 min
