Garching storage library
The storage library in Garching near Munich is a facility of the Bavarian State Library . At the site of the main building of the State Library on Ludwigstrasse in Munich , space problems arose over time. The decision was therefore made for a location in the Garching research area. In 1988 the building was inaugurated after a two-year construction period. A second construction phase went into operation in 2005, and a third phase is being planned. The magazines in Garching hold around 5.6 million volumes, the total holdings of the Bavarian State Library in 2015 comprised around 10 million volumes.
The holdings in Garching can only be used via the Bayerische Staatsbibliothek in Ludwigstrasse.
