SpellCaster is a video game for the Sega Master System released in 1988 in which a character named Kane plays the main role. This game was known as Kujaku Ō ( Japanese 孔雀王 ) in Japan and Warrior Quest in South America . The sequel is titled Mystic Defender .

The game begins when Kane is summoned by Daikak, the great leader of the Summit Temple, to end a war between different warlords . The player explores temples and defeats opponents such as ghosts, ninjas and wild beasts. There are also villages to explore and people to speak to as the player gathers clues as to who desecrated his hometown temple and killed its guardians. The quest takes the player to medieval Japan and the underworld .
