Singles

Single releases were "Take it Off", "Who invited You" and "Too Bad About Your Girl"

style

"Spend the Night" sounds a lot harder than the previous albums, whose pieces were kept rather simple. Every song on “Spend the Night” contains a guitar solo. The typical punk / hard rock instrumentation guitar, bass, drums is included throughout.

Cover

On the cover, the four band members can be seen in a wood-paneled, untidy bedroom, three of them lying or sitting on the bed. At the top left there is the band name in yellow letters at an angle, immediately below the album title. The booklet, which is held in different shades of yellow and orange, contains more photos of the band.

reception

The album is rated negatively at laut.de. The main criticism is that the songs are musically not very varied. The style is characterized as "Dixie Chicks on electric guitar" . The conclusion of the review is as follows: “The Donnas push themselves on a proud 14 tracks and show impressively how boring rock music in 2003 can be. At most it might still work on the highway. The drums call full speed ahead throughout the album. Their song structures call full speed into insignificance. When it comes to variety, these girls are not so big - at least they stayed the same as the Ramones. "

The CD received slightly better criticism on Plattentests.de , which awarded it six out of ten points: "With" Spend the night "the four of them present an album on their major debut that is nothing more than pleasing. [...] Ultimately, it's the carefree and powerful sound that makes some of the tracks into small hits. You quickly forget how average the disc actually is. "

Markus Schleutermann from Rock Hard, on the other hand, praised the album and gave it 8.5 out of ten points: “At second glance, the ladies who are now of legal age are quite self-deprecating (“ I must have too many diet-cokes, I'm laughing at all yours stupid jokes "). Musically they serve us rock'n'roll performed with joy in playing, which scores points with a good mood, great solos and lots of accurate hooklines. [...] For me, "Spend The Night" is a great party record that combines the snottiness of girl school with the charm of Molly Ringwald ("Breakfast Club"). "
