attitude
terrarium
Sphaerodactylus elegans can be kept as a terrarium animal. The minimum dimensions of the terrarium are 25 × 40 × 30 (L / W / H in cm). The terrarium should be at least 60 cm long and 50 cm wide for species-appropriate keeping. The height can be 50 cm or more.
Facility
The substrate should consist of a mixture of sand and earth, the back and side walls can be covered with a natural material such as cork. Other possible furnishings are cork tubes, aquarium roots, stones or even dried leaves.
plants
Suitable plants are e.g. B. bromeliads, orchids or tendrils. The planting should be modeled on the tropical habitat of the animals and offer them opportunities to retreat.
Lighting, temperature, humidity
The terrarium should have a temperature of 24 to 27 ° C in summer. The lighting duration is 12 hours in summer. In winter, the temperature should be reduced by around 2–3 ° C (winter temperature at night: 18 ° C) and lighting should be on for 10 hours. The humidity is around 70%. To achieve this, spray briefly every day. One or two fluorescent tubes and a spotlight for the warming area serve as lighting.
nutrition
The animals feed on woodlice and small insects (crickets, oven tails, flies, etc.).
