Spheric Universe Experience is a French progressive metal band from Nice , founded in 1999 under the name Gates of Delirium .
history
The band was founded in 1999 by guitarist Vince Benaim, drummer Sam and bassist John Drai under the name Gates of Delirium. Together they played their first appearances in the south of France. In 2001 keyboardist Fred Colombo joined the band with singer Alex. They changed their name to Amnesya, made other appearances, and released their first demo. In August 2002 leaving Vince Benaim, John Drai and Fred Colombo split from the rest of the band and changed the band name to Spheric Universe Experience.
In the following eight months the band worked on their debut album and released a demo in April 2003 with singer Franck Garcia. The demo called The Burning Box was sent to Intromental Management in Denmark , which gave the band a management contract with them. The recordings for the debut album Mental Torments began with drummer Volodia Brice in August 2003. The cover of the album was created by Swedish artist Mattias Norén . At the beginning of 2004, drummer Volodia Brice left the band and found a suitable replacement in spring 2004 in Guillaume Morero. Towards the end of the year he was again replaced by Nicolas "Ranko" Muller. The second album, called Anima , was recorded in the summer of 2006 by Charles Massabo at the Coxinhell Studio and the Kallaghan Studio in France and mastered by Tommy Hansen in Denmark at the Jailhouse Studios . The cover was designed by Killustrations Media in Germany . The album was released worldwide in April 2007 via Sensory Records and exclusively in France via Replica Records .
The band then welcomed their new drummer named Christophe Briand. In September 2008 the band performed at ProgPower USA in Atlanta . After that, the band went to the studio to record another album, which was released in spring 2009. In the fall the band played through Europe as the opening group for Threshold .

The band plays technically demanding Progressive Metal, which is compared to other bands in the genre such as Dream Theater , Savatage , Symphony X and Pain of Salvation .
