Spialia doris is a butterfly fromthe thick-headed butterfly family (Hesperiidae).

features

The fore wing length of the subspecies Spialia doris daphne is about twelve millimeters. The upper side of both pairs of wings is brown-black in color and has a complete series of white submarginal spots, the discoidal spot is crescent-shaped. The spot in cell seven on the underside of the hind wings is well separated from the large white discoid spot.

Occurrence

Spialia doris is common in Morocco, Egypt, Saudi Arabia, Somalia, and India. Very hot, dry gorges with barren vegetation are settled. In the Atlas Mountains the species occurs from 400 to 1750 meters above sea level.

Way of life

The adults fly in two generations from late March to May and from late August to September. Your flight is very fast and just off the ground. The caterpillars feed on Convolvulus lanatus , Convolvulus caputmedusae and Convolvulus trabutianus .
