Spiggengrund

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Spiggengrund is the name of the upper valley of the Spiggenbach in the Bernese Frutigland . The right side valley of the Kiental falls from the east, as it is bordered by Drettenhorn and Schwalmern to the north and by Kilchfluh and Andrist to the south, gently sloping towards the west and finally narrows between the foothills of the Abendberg on the left and the Dreispitzes on the right Side to a ravine .

On the south slope are the Alps Steinwängen , Margofel , Schwand and the Alt Weid , on the north side the Underburg and Schindlere ; in the far east and a little higher are Glütsch and Hohkien . From the lower Spiggengrunde, alpine paths lead over the Egg between Dreispitz and Schwalmern into the Suldtal and over the yoke between Abendberg and the Zahmer Andrist into the Kiental. From Hohkien you can get over the Chilchfluepass into the Soustal or further south over the Rote Herd into the Sefinental .
