A spinnaker trumpet is used on dinghies and keel boats to quickly and safely set and retrieve a spinnaker or gennaker .

There is also a rounded, funnel-shaped depression in the bow of the boat, the shape of which gave the spinnaker trumpet its name. It guides the sail, which is guided on the rescue line, into an adjoining tube or a cloth or net tube that is used to stow the sail.

The recovery line belonging to the spinnaker, which is attached to one or, in the case of large sails, several cloth loops - the so-called recovery eyelets - is mostly also the spinnaker halyard (endless system).

So that the spinnaker can slide more easily through the spinnaker trumpet, it should be made of silicone-coated cloth.
