Spinodal in the binary LLE

The curve in a phase diagram is referred to as the spinodal curve which, when exceeded , must be followed by a phase transition . Crystallization nuclei of the phase prevailing within the spinodal are unstable outside, but still tend to the thermodynamically more favorable state inside until the binodal is exceeded . It can have what are known as critical points in common with the binodal, by which it is completely enclosed .
