Spiral Architect is a Norwegian progressive metal band from Oslo that was formed in 1993.
history
The band was founded in 1993 by ex- King's Quest guitarist Steinar Gundersen, who teamed up with members of the band Anesthesia, Kaj Gornitzka (electric guitar), Lars K. Norberg (electric bass) and Asgeir Mickelson (drums) , united. Together they wrote a few songs and were initially represented with two pieces on the compilation A Gathering of Eight Norwegian Prog. Metal Bands in 1995. Both songs were released again in February 1995 as a demo in self-production. Leif Knashaug could be heard as a singer at the demo.
In 1996, Øyvind Hægeland (ex-Manitou) joined the band, and the following year Spiral Architect signed a contract with The Laser's Edge / Sensory Records . The debut album A Skeptic's Universe was recorded in June 1998 at Village Productions , Texas . It was produced by Neil Kernon ( Brand X , Queensrÿche , Nevermore ). The album was released in Japan on December 16, 1999, and worldwide on January 18, 2000.
As early as September 2000, the band announced that they had begun rehearsals for a second album, which was later postponed again and again and has not yet been released.
style
Spiral Architects' style is a mixture of technical progressive metal and fusion and comparable to the work of other bands in the genre such as Watchtower , Fates Warning and Psychotic Waltz .
