Spirit of Berlin

Spirit of Berlin is a computer-controlled car based on the Chrysler Voyager . It was designed and programmed by Raúl Rojas of the Free University of Berlin in 2006/07 by the Robotics / Artificial Intelligence working group . The vehicle can find its way around in traffic without human assistance. The vehicle was equipped with additional actuators that allow computer-controlled steering, braking and acceleration. Laser scanners , video cameras and a GPS navigation system serve as sensors in the car and enable the perception of the environment in real time. Computers process the data from the sensors and generate the commands for controlling the car. To do this, obstacles and other road users must be reliably identified.

Due to the acceptance of driver assistance systems , the development of autonomous vehicles has become increasingly important in recent years. In 2011 a new autonomous car called MadeInGermany was developed by the Free University of Berlin and AutoNOMOS Labs .
