The SpokFrevo Orquestra is a Brazilian big band .

history

The SpokFrevo Orquestra was founded in 1996 in Pernambuco under the name Banda Pernambucana . The group was then renamed Orquestra de Frevo do Recife and has had its current name since 2003. The big band consists of eighteen musicians and plays a mixture of the traditional music of north-east Brazil, especially the Frevo - the music of the Carnival in Recife - and jazz . The musical director and arranger is the saxophonist Inaldo Cavalcante de Albuquerque, also called condutor Spok .

In 2004 her first album Passo de Anjo was released . The big band has made many successful appearances across Brazil since it was founded, such as at the Cascavel Jazz Festival . In recent years the group has also given a number of concerts in Europe, in 2006 as part of the Copa da Cultura in the House of World Cultures in Berlin , in 2007 at the Copenhagen Jazz Festival and in 2009 at the Moers Jazz Festival . The big band has worked with a number of well-known musicians in Brazil since its inception.
