The Spokane Emirs are an arena football team from Spokane, Washington , currently playing in the Indoor Football League (IFL). The Empire play their home games in the Spokane Veterans Memorial Arena.

history

The Empire was founded in 2016. They emerged from the Spokane Shock , which played in the Arena Football League (AFL) until 2015 . Since the AFL owns name and logo rights, Spokane had to develop a new name and logo after the withdrawal.

Before the season, the new team name was chosen from over 400 suggestions through a fan survey.

IFL season 2016

The Empire won the conference title in the Intence Conference in the very first season, with a record of 12 wins and 4 losses.

In the semifinals, the Conference Championships, the Nebraska Danger were eliminated with 55:44, before they only lost in the final, the UnitedBowl , against the series champion Sioux Fall with 34:55.

IFL season 2017

After losing the last three games of the regular season, any hope of participating in the playoffs had to be buried. With 8 wins and 8 losses Spokane was third and did not qualify for the playoffs.

Stadion

The Empire play their home games at the Spokane Veterans Memorial Arena. For indoor football games, the arena can accommodate 10,771 spectators. The Empire must share the stadium with the Spokane Chiefs, a major league hockey club from the Western Hockey League (WHL)
