Sporomorpha

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Sporomorpha is a collective term for spores and pollen in palynology . In the case of older fossil spores and pollen in particular, it is not possible to determine exactly from which plants they come. One then speaks of “Sporomorpha” without specifying which species or genera they belong to. In the fossilized state one speaks of "palynomorphs". These microfossils are the acid-resistant organic remnants of spores and pollen, which were used for the reproduction and spatial distribution of various plants, some of which are now extinct.
