The Sporting Clube de Bissau , usually just called Sporting de Bissau , is a sports club from the Guinea-Bissau capital of Bissau . He is particularly known for his soccer team , which is record champions (as of 2017).

history

The club was founded on January 30, 1936 in the capital of the Portuguese colony Portuguese Guinea as branch club No. 89 of the Portuguese club Sporting Lisbon .

The club only achieved its greatest successes after Guinea-Bissau gained independence in 1974.

In 1983 the club achieved its first win at the Campeonato Nacional da Guiné-Bissau , the country's top division. Since then, the club has won twelve more state championships, making it the record champions (as of 2017).

Sporting de Bissau is the only club in Guinea-Bissau's upper house that has never been relegated.
