history

Soon after the establishment, the main focus of Sportivo shifted to football. Already after the 1916 season, after the union with the Club Riachuelo , the club rose to the first division of Argentina and took a good fifth place the following year. As a rule, the club placed itself in the better midfield in the coming seasons. Every now and then the fifth place was taken again, but the real top positions stayed away.

Sportivo traveled to Brazil for the first time in 1917 and competed against the national team there. One of the great highlights in the club's history is the trip to Europe in 1929 - Sportivo was only the second team from Argentina to travel to the old continent. After the division of Argentine football between professionalism and amateur status in 1931, Sportivo remained with the amateurs and secured one of its greatest successes with the championship of the amateur league. In the period that followed, the club fell into rapid decline and finally stopped playing in 1936.

In 1967 Sportivo reorganized, but remained insignificant. In 2003, for commercial reasons, a move to the area around Buenos Aires to the Partido de Bolívar and Sportivo expanded its club name accordingly. The club still has its headquarters in Barracas.
