The Sportjugend Hesse is the youth organization of the State Sports Association Hesse and is the umbrella organization of youth sports in Hessen . With 830,000 members from 7,745 clubs, it is the largest youth association in Hessen. The association was founded on June 1st, 1946 and is responsible for the association and youth welfare according to the Child and Youth Welfare Act and a member of the German Youth Sports Association .

The aim of Sportjugend Hessen is to promote child and youth work in the field of sport. The area of ​​activity is divided into youth association work and youth development in sport. In addition, the Sportjugend Hessen is targeting children and young people with a range of leisure activities and has offered young adults the voluntary social year in sport and the federal voluntary service since 2001 .

Organization and structure

The board of directors is elected by the individual Hessian sports group and association youths in the general youth assembly from the representatives of the 830,000 members every three years. The board of directors draws up a work program for each election period, which is implemented by the full-time employees.

The management is the direct link to the full-time employees. Contact persons are provided for various questions relating to youth work. The subject areas are divided into presentations. They are divided into the individual subject areas from advice to clubs to volunteer services and integration.

education

Sportjugend offers training and further education in the field of child and youth work. Both an openly advertised offer as well as individual educational offers that can also be carried out regionally are available.

Voluntary service

Sportjugend Hessen has been sponsoring the voluntary social year in sport since 2001 and the federal volunteer service since 2011. Both services offer young people the possibility of a year of education, orientation and development in the form of social engagement. The young volunteers are deployed in educational work (FSJ) or in administration and organization (BFD). The locations for a voluntary social year in sport of the Sportjugend Hessen are sport clubs, sport associations and sports circles in Hessen.

Kindergarten / school

In order to encourage as many children and young people as possible in Hessen through sporting activities, the sport youth advocates cooperation between school / kindergarten and sport clubs. It offers, among other things, shortened trainings for trainers and teachers and awards the “Movement Kindergarten Hessen” seal of quality.

Leisure time

In the summer and winter holidays, Sportjugend Hessen offers free time that children and young people can take advantage of directly through Sportjugend. The focus is on intercultural encounters.

Sportjugend Hessen offers sports fun, climbing, soccer, mini and skate mobiles to clubs that promote exercise and health. There is also a Sportfun team day for schools.

Social engagement and integration

Sportjugend Hessen offers day-long training courses for clubs on topics such as “intercultural competence”, which develop intercultural quality standards, to complex programs such as “integration through sport”, which support clubs in integrating migrants and disadvantaged young people.

Sportjugend Hessen has launched a support program “Sport for All Children” to enable children from poor families to take part in club sports.

With regard to right-wing extremism, Sportjugend Hessen supports clubs and sports circles in the areas of (primary) prevention, early detection and intervention / advice. With projects such as “Mobile intervention teams against right-wing extremism in sport”, “The world of sport - We offer respect and recognition!” (R.AN.!), “Promotion of diversity / against discrimination and right-wing extremism”, the aim is to raise awareness on the one hand, but also right-wing extremist incidents follow up in sport and follow up on conflicts.

Facilities

The Sportjugend Hessen maintains a sports and educational facility in Wetzlar as well as a sports, nature and adventure camp in the Breitenbachtal on the Edersee .
