The Salavat Yulayev Sports Palace ( Russian Дворец спорта “Салават Юлаев” ) is a 4,043-seat multi-purpose hall in Ufa , Russia , which opened in 1967.

history

The Sports Palace was built in 1967 by a local construction company and opened on October 28, 1967. The building comprised two ice rinks with seating for 4,200 and 1,500 spectators respectively. The hall can also be converted for concerts and other sporting events. In 1993 a tennis court was built right next to the ice rink. In the 1990s, the lighting system of the ice rinks was also renewed and new display boards were installed.

The resident ice hockey club Salawat Yulayev Ufa played its home games in the ice rink until 2007 before moving to the Ufa Arena . Tolpar Ufa , Salawat's junior team from the Molodjoschnaja Chokkeinaja League , and Agidel Ufa , a women's team in the top Russian division, have played their home games in the hall since 2009 .

In January 2012 the Sports Palace was closed for renovation work and reopened for the 2013 U20 Junior Ice Hockey World Championship , which was held in the Sports Palace and the Ufa-Arena. During this tournament, the larger ice rink used has a reduced capacity of 3,500 seats.
