Sports badge of the city of Frankfurt am Main
The Sports Medal of the City of Frankfurt am Main is the highest honor the city of Frankfurt for the sport.
purpose
The plaque is intended for outstanding sporting achievements or special services to sport in Frankfurt and is awarded annually to individuals or teams. In the case of teams, each individual team member receives the badge.
Award criteria
The sports badge of the city of Frankfurt am Main can only be awarded to those who have their permanent residence within the city area or who are closely linked to the city or its sports clubs through their sporting achievements or services to sport.
The plaque can be given to young people, juniors, active adults including seniors who have been qualified and nominated for the following competitions officially announced by the respective leading associations:
- Olympic Games or Paralympics
- World and European championships
- German championships (also: German gymnastics festival, cup victories, German university championships, police championships, etc.)
In addition to the athletes who have been honored for outstanding performance, up to five people can be honored each year who have made outstanding contributions to youth or mass work in Frankfurt sport in many years of voluntary work.
Clubs, associations and interdisciplinary sports institutions are entitled to make proposals. The suggestions are submitted to the city's sports department and supplemented by a statement from the expanded sports district board. The decision on the specific award is made by the magistrate responsible for sports (sports department).
Award
The award ceremony takes place as part of the Frankfurter Sportabend event . In addition to the badge, a certificate from the city of Frankfurt and a sports badge will also be presented.
design
The plaque bears the Frankfurt city arms on the front, on the back the version for active athletes is embossed with the lettering for outstanding achievements , in the version for voluntary workers the lettering for outstanding services to Frankfurt sport as well as in both versions the year in to which it is bestowed. The sports badge shows a miniature of the front of the sports badge.
