New Jewish Cemetery (Miltenberg)

The New Jewish Cemetery Miltenberg is one of two Jewish cemeteries in Lower Franconia Miltenberg , the county town of the same district in the administrative district of Lower Franconia . The 14.4 ares large cemetery is located south of Miltenberg in the Bergstrasse-Odenwald nature park on Klausrain; only the rear part of the cemetery is occupied.

The other Jewish cemetery in Miltenberg is the Old Jewish Cemetery on the south-eastern city wall .

history

The cemetery has been in use since 1904, when the land resources of the Old Jewish Cemetery on the Miltenberg city wall were exhausted. One of the first burials in the New Jewish Cemetery was that of Emanuel Lindheimer; in 1899 he had sold the area required for the construction of this cemetery to the Jewish community .

The cemetery was used until December 1941.
