Jewish cemetery (Oberlauringen)
The Oberlauringen Jewish Cemetery in Oberlauringen , part of the Stadtlauringen market in the Schweinfurt district of Lower Franconia , is located about 500 meters southwest of Oberlauringen. There are about 200 tombstones on a cemetery area of 12.3 ares .
history
At the end of the 18th century the Jewish community of Oberlauringen came into being, which 100 years later made up 20% of the total population. Until 1832 their deceased members were buried in the Jewish cemetery in Kleinbardorf, eight kilometers away .
In 1832 the Oberlauringen cemetery was inaugurated. The last burial dates from 1938.
