In Reistenhausen , a district of the Lower Franconian community of Collenberg in the Miltenberg district, there is a Jewish cemetery with an area of 52 ares . Today there are still 428 tombstones ( Mazewot ).

history

The cemetery was established in the 16th century, northwest, outside the village. After the Jewish community of Reistenhausen ceased to exist in 1926 , the cemetery served as an association cemetery for the Jewish communities of Eschau, Fechenbach, Freudenberg, Klingenberg, Mönchberg, Röllbach and Sommerau, among others.

In the "Statutes of the Israelite mortuary in Reistenhausen" of 1875, the following are named as "Cultus communities": Fechenbach, Freudenberg, Mönchberg, Eschau, Sommerau, Hobbach, Klingenberg, Röllfeld, Röllbach, Wörth, Trennfurt and Hofstetten.

In the 20th century, the western part of the cemetery was expanded; the cemetery was filled with tombstones in the northern part of the cemetery.

The cemetery was used until 1938.
