Siegfried Stoitzner
Siegfried Stoitzner (born May 3, 1892 in Vienna , † May 1, 1976 in Krems an der Donau ) was an Austrian painter and publisher of art postcards.
life and work
Siegfried Stoitzner was born as the third son of the painter Karl Stoitzner in Vienna, where he also attended elementary and secondary school. From 1909 to 1913 he attended the Academy of Fine Arts in Vienna. As a one-year volunteer , he went to the First World War , from which he returned as a highly decorated first lieutenant. In 1918 he moved with his family to Furth near Göttweig , where he founded the art postcard publishing house Heimatland with his brother Otto Stoitzner , who was also a painter , and sold the landscapes of the two artists. After his marriage to Albertina Stranzinger, he moved to Dürnstein , where he ran an inn. In 1919 he was a founding member of the Wachauer Künstlerbund . In 1941 he became a member of the Society of Visual Artists Vienna ( Künstlerhaus ).
In 1934 he was interned in the Wöllersdorf detention camp as a member of the NSDAP, which is illegal in Austria . In 1936 he had to sell the Kuenringer tavern in Dürnstein and move to Rossatz . In 1938 he was called up again, but soon disarmed and spent the war in Bad Traunstein . In 1945 he was excluded from Vienna's society of visual artists because of his National Socialist activities .
After the death of his wife Albertina, with whom he had two sons, he married the academic painter Etta Katzenbeißer. In 1950 he was re-accepted into the Society of Visual Artists of Vienna together with other members of the National Socialist group who were expelled in 1945 .

Siegfried Stoitzner comes from a family of painters. The best known are his uncle Konstantin Stoitzner , a landscape painter, and his cousin Josef Stoitzner .

Works
The extensive work mainly includes landscape paintings and portraits. But also genre pictures and hunting scenes. Many works deal with the Wachau and the Waldviertel .
