The sports badge of the state of Hesse is the highest award for sport in the German state of Hesse .

purpose

The plaque is intended for sporting achievements or special services to sport such as voluntary work in sport and can be awarded to individuals or teams on an annual basis.

Award criteria

The sports badge of the State of Hesse can be awarded per year to a total of ten people or teams who have achieved top sporting performances according to international standards, have an exemplary character through their sporting attitude or have achieved particularly noteworthy sporting achievements despite physical impairments.

In addition, the award can be given to five people who have volunteered for youth sports or popular sports work in clubs or associations.

For the award of the sports badge of the State of Hesse , proposals can be submitted to the Hessian Ministry of the Interior and for sport by September 1st of each year ; urban and rural districts, the State Sports Association of Hesse and the Hessian sports associations are entitled to do so . For this purpose, a committee has been set up at the ministry that decides on the proposals or makes a selection.

Award

The award will be made by the Hessian Minister of the Interior and for Sport during a ceremony in a representative setting, for example in 2009 in the rotunda of Biebrich Castle in the state capital Wiesbaden . In addition to the plaque, a silver pin and a certificate from the State of Hesse are presented.
