Hans Peter Thurn

Hans Peter Thurn (born August 5, 1943 in Krefeld ) is a German sociologist .

Thurn studied philosophy, sociology, literary studies and art history at the universities in Heidelberg, Frankfurt am Main and Cologne. He received his doctorate in 1970 and his habilitation in 1977 . He teaches as a professor of sociology at the Düsseldorf Art Academy .

His research and teaching focuses on cultural sociology and cultural history as well as art and literary sociology . In 2017 Thurn was elected to the North Rhine-Westphalian Academy of Sciences .
