The Hermann-Neuberger-Sportschule is an institution operated by the State Sports Association for Saarland (LSVS). Located in the Saarbrücken city ​​forest in the immediate vicinity of the Saarland University , it offers top and amateur athletes on around 9 hectares a variety of modern sports facilities. It was named after the longstanding DFB President and FIFA Vice President Hermann Neuberger .

In the last few years considerable funds have been invested in the modernization and expansion of the sports school. A new athletics hall was built, the guest houses with around 150 beds were renovated, a new swimming pool was built and the athletes' house was built, which enables top athletes to live directly at their training location. The sports school also has a cafeteria , several football and tennis courts and several sports halls. Teaching and seminar rooms are available in different sizes.

In addition, there are the headquarters of some professional associations such as the Saarland Football Association , the Olympiastützpunkt Rhineland-Palatinate / Saarland and the BSA Academy. The Institute for Sports and Preventive Medicine at Saarland University, which is particularly well-known nationwide through sports medicine specialist Wilfried Kindermann , is directly attached to the sports school.

The Gymnasium am Rotenbühl, which has been recognized as an elite school of sport and an elite school of football for women and girls, cooperates with the LSVS and uses the sports facilities to promote young sporting talent.

The LSVS and its professional associations with the Hermann-Neuberger-Sportschule are mainly financed by the so-called Sportachtel , through which the LSVS is entitled by law to 12.5% ​​of the stakes made by Saarland-Sporttoto GmbH to promote sport.
