Sports center Lower Austria
The Lower Austria Sports Center ( spelling SPORT.ZENTRUM.Lower Austria ), the former Lower Austrian State Sports School , is a sports center in St. Pölten . With a total size of 150,000 m², it is one of the largest, most flexible and multifunctional sports facilities in Austria.
history
1990 opening
The Lower Austria sports center was opened in 1990 as the first building construction project to have been carried out in St. Pölten since the capital city was founded. The costs at that time amounted to almost 17 million euros. The main building (catering, cloakrooms, strength and gymnastics room) with adjoining event hall and guest house as well as 3 football fields, athletics facility, an outdoor tennis court and the House of Sports (headquarters of umbrella organizations) were built.
1995 tennis hall
In 1995, the second expansion stage with a tennis hall with four fields, a seminar room for one hundred people and new central offices for the Lower Austrian Football Association was handed over to its destination. This expansion phase cost 3.6 million euros. The costs for the third and fourth expansion stages amounted to almost 4 million euros.
2003 ball sports hall
The ball sports hall was realized as the fifth expansion stage in nine months of construction and construction costs of 3.6 million euros and opened on December 1, 2003. The sixth expansion stage cost just under 1 million euros. In September 2007 the ice rink was opened as construction stage seven.
2012 football stadium
On July 7, 2012, the NV Arena (25.7 million euros) was opened as the eighth expansion phase.
2013 Opening of the fitness hall (former gymnastics hall)
After eleven months of construction, the new fitness hall was opened on January 31, 2013 on the grounds of Sports Councilor Petra Bohuslav. With this tenth expansion stage, the SPORT.ZENTRUM.Niederösterreich was expanded to include another top modern training facility.
SPORT.ZENTRUM.Niederösterreich has added a second artificial turf pitch to its top training program and has been offering additional training times since January 2014. The new artificial turf pitch impresses with its high performance requirements and long service life. The Heliflex technology ensures that the yarn stands up again after every load and that the rolling behavior and rolling speed are just as good or even better than on natural grass.
Former racing cyclist Franz Stocher has been managing director of the Lower Austria sports center since June 2013 .
2018 reopening
On May 31, 2018, the SPORT.ZENTRUM.Lower Austria was reopened after a 20-month renovation phase. The core of the renovation project was a comprehensive adaptation of the sports facilities to the needs of the athletes, the modernization of the overnight accommodation in the main building and a general digitalization of the sports infrastructure. A new climbing wall and a bouldering area have been added to the already diverse range of sports. The SPORT.ZENTRUM.Niederösterreich is particularly pleased about the new gastronomy area "Heimspiel - Restaurant.Sportsbar". There, the athletes, as well as all spectators and visitors, are prepared daily fresh and healthy dishes from regional ingredients.
With this extensive renovation project, SPORT.ZENTRUM.Niederösterreich can continue to make a significant contribution as a training facility for popular and top-class sport and ensure that enthusiasm for sport grows in Lower Austria.

The sports center has a beach volleyball court , soccer grass pitches , artificial turf pitches , a hard court, a tennis center with four outdoor sand courts and four indoor courts with carpeting and rubber granulate. In addition, the athletes have five seminar rooms, a sauna , a solarium and a weight room at their disposal. The residential wing has a total capacity of 60 beds on 2 floors. There are also various halls available.
The multi-purpose hall is located in the center of the indoor facilities. The hall with the overall dimensions of 45 by 27 meters can be divided into three fields and has a synthetic floor. It is eleven meters high and has a fixed grandstand, which can be extended by an additional grandstand with a total capacity of 1200 visitors.
The training hall is a multi-purpose sports hall with 60 by 40 meters and is suitable for all ball sports. The equipment and art gymnasium is laid out with a mat floor throughout. A special feature is the " Schnitzel Pit ", a soft pit for safely practicing acrobatics.
The gymnastics room is equipped with a mirrored wall and a wooden swing floor. Ballet , dancing , aerobics , judo and karate are all practiced there. There is also a table tennis table. The indoor climbing wall is divided into different levels of difficulty measuring 12 by 11 meters.
The athletics facility has a 400 meter circular track, high and long jump facilities and throwing facilities. In addition, there is a floodlight system and a sound system. The indoor track is available for sprint and hurdle runners throughout the year. The event arena was the venue for an ATP tennis tournament from 1994 to 2005 . The three-sided grandstand with 2672 seats can be expanded to 3700 seats. There are 1200 m² of event space available in the arena. There is also an area of 2200 m² on the open-air site.
The ice rink consists of an ice surface measuring 30 by 60 meters. The pillar-free grandstand has a spectator capacity of 500 seats.

The SPORT.ZENTRUM.Niederösterreich is not only a high-quality training center for Lower Austrian competitive athletes, clubs and associations, amateur athletes and many more, but also an ideal stage for events.
Thanks to the variety of different sports facilities and locations, unforgettable event experiences can be created for visitors and participants.
Event hall
The event hall is located directly in the main building and is not only a training facility suitable for competitions, but is also an attractive event location due to its size. Events with up to 900 spectators can be realized in the event hall. With hall lighting suitable for television, a modern sound system and full air-conditioning, the hall can be booked not only for sporting events but also for events such as gala evenings or festivities.
HYPO NOE Lounge
Outside of football, the HYPO NOE Lounge is a unique event location in St. Pölten for events and events. The sporty, modern ambience of the HYPO NOE Lounge offers space for up to 700 guests with an interior area of 720 m² and a further 85 m² in the foyer area.
NV arena
The NV Arena is integrated into the SPORT.ZENTRUM.Lower Austria and is located in the north of the city of St. Pölten, not far from the city center. In addition, the NV Arena is the home of the Lower Austria St. Pölten sports club. The NV Arena is also available for events and events and can be booked at any time outside of football operations. The entire stadium can be rented, or partial areas and the outdoor area can be used separately.
