Establishment and history
The museum, opened in 1967, deals with the topic of alcohol and the importance of alcohol in everyday life and for Sweden. Interactive exhibits at the Spritmuseum also deal with different states of the human body when getting drunk.
Originally located in a different location, the museum opened in May 2012 at its current location. The museum is housed in a listed boathouse built in the 1750s based on the Venetian model by the architect Carl Hårleman . The boathouses were used to accommodate ships of the royal navy. Of the 30 boathouses originally built in Djurgården, known as Galärskjulen , only two have survived .
