Saying card

Goethe saying. Postcard 1911

As Spruchkarten refers postcards with slogans.

The short, catchy texts are usually a motto , a catchphrase or a quote . They come from the Bible , the Church Fathers and other spiritual authorities, poets and thinkers and well-known personalities.

The saying cards are often elaborately typographically designed and identify the type artist by name. Images (e.g. portrait of the poet or thinker; landscape image with a mood suitable for the saying) can also be combined with the text. Greeting cards are used for edification , moral encouragement as well as religious or ideological propaganda .

Humorous and funny saying cards are currently booming.
