Square (unit)

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Square (Square) is a non- metric square measure that is used in the US and Canada and previously in Australia was used to indicate the floor area of houses.

1 Square corresponds to a square area with a side length of 10 feet , i.e. 100 square feet or 9.290304 square meters .

The information in Square did not refer to the usable area, but to the entire area under the roof, including the area under the eaves. This is why the measure remained popular with real estate dealers even after the introduction of the metric system, because it allowed a building to appear larger in the description. Meanwhile, the building area in Australia is usually given in square meters.
