Sri Mulyani Indrawati (born August 26, 1962 in Tanjungkarang ) is an Indonesian economist who is known for her role at the World Bank and as her country's finance minister. It is by the magazine Forbes in the list 100 Most Powerful Women The World's done.

Life

Mulyani studied at the University of Indonesia . After graduating in 1986, she moved to the United States at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign , where she received her Ph.D. made. There she initially stayed in academic operations. She later worked for USAID .

In 2002 Mulyani went to the International Monetary Fund before she was appointed finance minister in the cabinet in 2004 by Indonesian President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono . During her tenure, which was marked by tax reforms and corruption scandals, the country experienced high economic growth. After the 2009 election, she was confirmed in office, but switched to the World Bank in May 2010 , particularly through the name she had made for herself through Indonesia's growth during the global financial crisis . She succeeded Juan José Daboub as Managing Director, the organization’s second-highest position after the traditionally US-American presidency. She stayed in office until 2016. She then returned to Indonesia as Finance Minister under President Joko Widodo , where she succeeded Bambang Brodjonegoro .
