The Srisailam Dam is a dam on the Krishna near Srisailam in the Kurnool district in the Indian state of Andhra Pradesh and one of the 12 largest hydropower plants in India. It is located on the Krishna above the Nagarjuna-Sagar dam .

The dam was built in a deep gorge in the Nallamala Mountains . It is 300 m above sea level. The inaccessible dam is 145 m high and 512 m long and has twelve radial openings. The hydropower plant on the left generates 6 × 150 MW and the one on the right 7 × 110 MW.

The reservoir was originally only built to generate hydropower, but was later converted into a multi-purpose facility for water supply. It provides irrigation in the districts of Kurnool and YSR (formerly Kadapa ), which are located in the drought-prone region of Rayalaseema .

In the past few years there have been several extraordinary floods at this dam .
