The hydropower plants in India are shown both on a map and in a table (with key figures). The list is not complete.

Installed capacity and annual production

In 2017, hydropower plants with an installed capacity of 42,783  MW were in operation in India ; a further 13,616 MW were under construction. The hydropower potential in India is estimated at 148,700 MW. Concerning. In terms of the installed capacity of all power plants, India was fifth in the world in 2015 with 308 GW and fourth in the world for annual generation with 1.289 trillion  kWh . The share of hydropower plants in the total installed capacity of all power plants was 14.4% in 2015.
