The Sabari (also Kolab in the upper reaches ) is a left tributary of the Godavari in eastern India .
The Sabari rises in the Sinkaran Hills on the western flank of the Eastern Ghats in the Koraput district in Odisha . At the upper reaches, the river is dammed by the Kolab dam . Much of the water is diverted via the hydroelectric power station and the Sati Nadi and either returns to the Sabari or is diverted for irrigation purposes. The old course of the river below the dam leads east. Later the Sabari turns to the south-southwest and forms the border between Odisha and Chhattisgarh to the west . The Pateru and the Sileru , both on the left, meet the Sabari 60 km and 32 km above the mouth . From the confluence of the Sileru, the Sabari is in Andhra Pradesh . Finally, after a total length of 418 km, the Sabari joins the Godavari at Kunavaram .
The catchment area of the Sabari covers 20,427 km², of which 10,300 km² are in Odisha.
