The Koldam hydropower project of Indian NTPC Limited , or KolDam for short , is a dam under construction on Satluj near Barmana on the Chandigarh-Manali Highway (NH-21) in the Bilaspur district of the Indian state of Himachal Pradesh .

The main purpose of the dam is hydropower generation . It will receive a power plant with 800 MW. The foundation stone for the dam was laid on June 5, 2000 by Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee . Main work on the structure began on January 14, 2004. The project was delayed due to environmental problems and forest losses. The commissioning of the generators was only planned for 2009 and was postponed to 2013. The structure was completed in 2013 with the exception of remaining work. Stowage has been in progress since the end of 2013, with delays again. The official inauguration will take place in 2015.

In hydroelectric power plant there are 4 x 200 MW - Francis turbines . The hydraulic head is 144 m.

The flood relief has six openings.

The reservoir is named Sundernagar Lake.
