The district of Bilaspur ( Hindi : बिलासपुर जिला ) is a district in the Indian state of Himachal Pradesh . The seat of the district administration is the city of Bilaspur .
The Bilaspur district has an area of 1167 square kilometers and is located in the Satluj Valley . The river Satluj , from which the Satlujtal owes its name, runs through the district approximately in the middle and divides the region into several areas of almost the same size. Neighboring districts are Una , Hamirpur , Mandi and Solan . The population of the district of Bilaspur is 381,956 (2011 census).
About 70 km from the district capital Bilaspur and at an altitude of about 1096 meters is the Naina Devi temple from the 8th century in Naina Devi .
Administrative division
Administratively, the district is divided into three Tehsils : Ghumarwin, Bilaspur Sadar and Jhandutta. Jhandutta was formed in January 1998 as a split from Tehsil Ghumarwin. Naina Devi is a Sub-Tehsil by Bilaspur Sadar and was created in January 1980.
