The district of Una ( Hindi : उना जिला ) is a district of the Indian state of Himachal Pradesh . The district administration is based in Una . The district was created on September 1, 1972 by separation from the district of Kangra .
geography
The Una district is located in the southwest of Himachal Pradesh in the area between the Siwalik chains and the Front Himalayas . Neighboring districts are Kangra in the north, Hamirpur in the northeast and Bilaspur in the southeast. In the southwest the district borders on Punjab . The Swan River , a right tributary of the Satluj , flows through the district in a south-easterly direction. In the southeast of the district is the Gobind-Sagar reservoir . The area of the Una district is 1540 km².
