The Hamirpur district ( Hindi : हमीरपुर जिला ) is a district of the Indian state of Himachal Pradesh . The seat of the district administration is Hamirpur . The district was created in 1972 when it was separated from the Kangra district .
geography
The Hamirpur district is located in the southwest of Himachal Pradesh in the area between the Siwalik chains and the Front Himalayas . Neighboring districts are Mandi in the northeast, Kangra in the north, Una in the west and Bilaspur in the south. The Beas flows along the northern district boundary. Its left tributary Kunah Khad crosses the district in a north-westerly direction.
The area of the Hamirpur district is 1118 km².

The district is divided into four sub-divisions: Hamirpur, Barsar, Nadaun and Bhoran.
