Hans-Joachim Geisler
Hans-Joachim "HaJo" Geisler (born May 27, 1955 in Goslar ) is a former German swimmer who competed for the Federal Republic of Germany .
At the 1972 Olympic Games in Munich, Hans-Joachim Geisler was eliminated from the 400 meter medley in the lead. Geisler won his first German championship title in 1973 in the 400 meter medley, and by 1978 he had won six titles in a row on this route. In 1974 he also won the 1500 meter freestyle and 1977 the 200 meter medley. At the European Championships in 1974 , he finished sixth on the 400-meter medley course. His most successful international championship was the 1975 World Swimming Championships . He won the bronze medal over 400 meter medley and with the German four-by-200-meter freestyle relay consisting of Klaus Steinbach , Werner Lampe , Geisler and Peter Nocke , he won the title ahead of the British and the Soviet relay. At the 1976 Summer Olympics , he reached the final over 400 meter medley, but only came in eighth and last place. The freestyle relay with Steinbach, Nocke, Lampe and Geisler took fourth place behind the relays from the USA, the Soviet Union and the United Kingdom.
Hans-Joachim Geisler started for VfL Wolfsburg until the end of 1974 and was trained by Ralf Beckmann . At the end of 1974 the 1.84 m tall Geisler moved to the Swimming and Sportfreunde Bonn with Örjan Madsen as coach.
