The Solana district ( Hindi : सोलन जिला ) is a district in the Indian state of Himachal Pradesh . The district administration is based in Solan .
geography
The Solan District is located in the southwest of Himachal Pradesh in the Upper Himalayas . Neighboring districts are Sirmaur in the southeast, Shimla in the northeast, Mandi in the north and Bilaspur in the northwest. In the south the district borders on Punjab and Haryana . The area of the Solan district is 1936 km².

Solan is divided into four sub-divisions: Solan, Nalagarh, Arki and Kandaghat.
