Una ( Hindi उना Unā ) is a city ( Municipal Council ) in the Indian state of Himachal Pradesh .

It forms the administrative center of the district of the same name . In the 2011 census, the population was 18,722. 91% are Hindus , 6.9% Sikhs . Una lies at an altitude of 371  m in the river valley of the Swan , flanked on both sides by Siwalik chains , which flows towards the Satluj in a south-easterly direction .

The climate in Una is subtropical . In the summer months of July and August, during the monsoon season , most precipitation falls. The average annual precipitation is 1100 mm. The annual mean temperature is 23.6 ° C.
