Since it was founded in 1993, Städtische Werke Magdeburg GmbH & Co. KG (SWM) has established itself as the regional market leader in the field of energy supply in the state capital of Saxony-Anhalt.
Products
The five services that SWM has made its main task are electricity, gas, water, heating and disposal. With its 661 employees, SWM is one of the largest companies in Saxony-Anhalt. The shareholders are the state capital Magdeburg with a share of 54 percent, E.ON Avacon AG with a share of 26.67 percent and Gelsenwasser AG with a share of 19.33 percent.
electricity
In the Magdeburg city area, other tariffs are offered in addition to the general basic service: SWM spar , SWM natur and SWM profi . With the SWM natur tariff, customers obtain 100 percent renewable energy, a large part of which is generated from hydropower and a smaller part from wind energy.
Since September 1, 2007, SWM has also been offering electricity and gas under the product name SC Turbine in the city of Schwerin and the Schwerin region.
natural gas
In addition to the general basic supply, SWM offers its customers a fixed price offer for one year with the SWMErdgas tariff . The existence of a natural gas filling station is intended to encourage customers to switch to natural gas. The fact that the changeover is financially supported by SWM also contributes to this.
water
The water from Colbitz-Letzlinger Heide and West Fleming comes from natural water cycles and filtering soil layers. It meets all the requirements for high quality drinking water . In addition, there is the possibility of obtaining construction water via a standpipe that is placed on a hydrant near the respective construction project.
warmth
The SWM heating package includes an environmentally friendly range of district and local heating as well as flexible services from a single source. The scope of services is determined individually for the customer according to his possibilities and specific requirements. The district heating generated primarily in the Rothensee waste-to - energy plant and in block-type thermal power stations is delivered to the house ready for use. This means that there are no costs for maintenance, repairs and chimney sweeps, or investments in your own heat supply systems.

On behalf of Abwassergesellschaft Magdeburg mbH (AGM), SWM is realizing the technical and commercial management of wastewater disposal in Magdeburg and in the nearby municipality of Gerwisch.

The SWM Card is a transferable customer card that can be used not only by the cardholder but also by three other people of his choice.
With the quarterly magazine SWM kurier , SWM customers are regularly informed about innovations, changes, advantages and promotions as well as discounts within the scope of the SWM Card.
The SWM compact newsletter for commercial customers provides information on the latest in energy, environment and technology. It is sent monthly by email. A print edition appears once a quarter. Every commercial customer is free to subscribe to the newsletter.
The customer center serves, on the one hand, to provide customers with personal information and, on the other, to provide advice on, for example, modernization and renovation, renewable energies, modern water-saving technology and energy-saving household appliances.
Telephone assistance is guaranteed with the free service telephone five working days a week. An emergency number for electricity (SWM Netze), natural gas, water / wastewater and heating is available around the clock.
The SWM online center enables customers to gain insight into their contractual relationships at any time and to process contractual matters online. Changes to the contract or the customer's personal data can be made here just as quickly and easily.
