The Avacon AG is one of the largest regional electricity and gas network operators in Germany, located in the Lower Saxony district town Helmstedt . The company is a subsidiary of the E.ON Group.

The network area extends from the North Sea coast to southern Hesse. The electricity network has a length of more than 66,000 km and the gas network has a length of more than 20,000 km.  

history

The group was created in 1999 from a merger of the Hanover-Braunschweigische Stromversorgungs-AG (HASTRA), the Überland-Zentrale Helmstedt AG (ÜZH), the Energieversorgung Magdeburg (EVM AG), the Ferngas Salzgitter GmbH (FSG) and the Landesgas Niedersachsen AG and has been part of the E.ON Group since 2005 . On July 1, 2005, Avacon was renamed E.ON Avacon . Since July 1, 2013 it has been called just Avacon again. 

The company is 40% owned by E.ON Beteiligungs GmbH. 38.5% of the shares belong to municipal shareholders and 21.5% to Bayernwerk AG .
